Fleet House

Fleet House

A contemporary private house in the sensitive architectural and historic context of Hampstead Village.

The design integrates a range of low-energy and renewable technologies to reduce its Carbon footprint without compromising the rich spatial and visual experience.

We designed the mechanical and electrical installations to an energy strategy that includes a ground source heat pump, which extracts energy from boreholes beneath the garden. A solar thermal array on the roof generates hot water in summer. Any excess heat is diverted into the boreholes so as to improve their efficiency by replenishing some of the heat extracted the previous winter.

Heat exchange boreholes were drilled over 100 metres deep into the London clay

The integration of the building services is fundamental to the spatial quality and so we have designed and coordinated the building services in detail with the architecture.

Bespoke electrical lighting and accessories have been designed to provide a consistent and discrete aesthetic throughout the house for power, lighting and controls.
