Refurbishment, Work Space

Second Home is a cultural venue and workspace that brings together thinkers, makers, artists and entrepreneurs.

We designed the building services for Second Home's 2nd phase, which is the refurbishment of two additional floors where boundaries between working areas are defined by curving transparent acrylic walls.

The 35x45m deep plan of the 1960’s concrete-framed warehouse makes natural ventilation unfeasible so mechanical ventilation with heat recovery is being installed to bring in fresh, tempered air while using a minimum of energy. An air-source heat pump system with heat recovery gives each workspace individual temperature control. It effectively allows heat from a space being cooled to be moved to a space needing heat – perfectly suited to a building open 24 hours, 7 days a week.

To help keep the 1000 indoor plants in good health we have designed an indoor drip irrigation and feed system.
